“It is surprisingly difficult to put into words the appreciation my family has for the Big Sky Bravery Family TF we were so fortunate to recently be a part of.
I, and many like me, have often been thanked for our service, but rarely do people understand the sacrifices made by our families.
Having the opportunity to spend time as a family and participate in activities we never thought possible (hot air balloon ride over Big Sky?!) was incredible.
The time given us to reflect upon the past and enjoy the present was a gift that I didn't realize would mean so much. But perhaps even more important was the revelation to my wife and young boys that generous people, whom they've never met, understand and appreciate the sacrifice they made.
People outside our circles care about the years my family spent worrying about me and those whom I had the privilege to serve alongside.
As amazing as our time together as a family was, the impact of the thoughtfulness and generosity of the people who made it all possible has left an indelible mark upon each of us.
I know that one short week, made possible through incredible generosity, has allowed my children to see the world a little differently. For that, I will be forever grateful.
